Getting Started

I've just signed up for a free trial - What happens now?

Congratulations on signing up! If you haven't already done so, have a read through our introduction to Komodo - https://komodomath.com/signup-confirm.

You will also receive a "Welcome to Komodo" email to the email address you signed up with, with contains all you need to know to get you started using Komodo.

The first stage is to download the Komodo app onto your device, you will then be guided through setting up Komodo for each of your learners. We've made the set up process as simple as possible, but we are always on hand should you encounter any problems.

Where do I get the Komodo app for my device?

All the links and any device-specific instructions are available on this page: https://komodomath.com/apps.

Remember, you can install Komodo on ALL your family devices.

I didn't get my welcome email.

You should receive your welcome email almost instantly, once you have completed the sign-up. If you have not received your email, please check spam filters.

If you still cannot find your email, please contact us on hi@komodomath.com. There is a chance the email could have been entered incorrectly.

I need some additional help - who do I contact?

Managing your Subscription

How do I cancel?

You can cancel your subscription within the account section. You'll see account links at the top and bottom of all our website pages.

How do I add another learner?

To add a extra learner simply log into your account with your email and original password then select "Add extra learner". Our family friendly pricing means this costs around half the price of the first learner.

Do you have a referral scheme?

Yes, our tell-a-friend referral scheme is open to all subscribers. Find out more here.

Can I switch from my monthly plan to an annual plan?

Yes. To do this log into the account section and choose “Switch to annual plan”

How can I remove a learner?

Yes. To do this log into the account section and choose “Remove Learner”

I need to update my payment card?

From time to time payment cards expire or fail to pay our subscription. To fix this log into the account section and choose “update payment card”

How can I check my payment history?

To do this log into the account section and choose “Payment history” We also email a receipt each time a payment is made.

I can’t remember my log in?

Please go to the account page and click on "Forgotten your password?". Then enter the registered email and we'll send you all the relevant logins for the account.

Using Komodo

How do I remember to use Komodo?

Komodo is designed to be used a minimum of 3 times a week - for 15 minutes per session. Remembering to use it can be a challenge - so we've set up an email reminder system. If your time with the kids is limited then you can add the child minder or grandparents to Komodo as a supporter.

Can I hide the lesson timer and clock?

Yes. You can do this in the Users and Passwords section of Settings. You can also do this during any lesson by clicking on the clock. Note that this doesn't change how grades are calculated.

How often should I use Komodo?

We advise "little and often use" - that's 3 to 5 short twenty minute sessions per week.

How do I use the rewards?

This video will help you use the reward feature.

Can I customise Komodo?

Yes. Most aspects of Komodo can be changed in the settings section. To enter the settings you must be logged into Komodo as a “Boss” so you may need to switch users. This video explains how to use the settings.

Can I cancel a lesson grade?

Yes you can cancel the last lesson grade. To do this use the settings section. This video explains further.

I’ve just started - where can I learn more?

These videos will help you learn the ropes. If you’re stuck drop us an email.

Can increase the lesson time?

Yes you can do this in the settings. To enter the settings you must be logged into Komodo as a “Boss” so you may need to switch users.

Is there a free trial period?

Yes, you start your fully featured 14 free trial and we don't take any payment for 14 days. During this time you can cancel any time without cost.

Am I tied in to a long-term contract?

We don't believe in tying you in to something that you no longer want, so you can cancel your account at any time. We also email reminders to annual subscribers two weeks before their renewal date.

What technical requirements do I need to use Komodo?

Komodo works on iPad, iPhone, Android (both tablets and phones) and Kindle Fire. It also works in a web browser for windows and mac computers. It requires a persistent web connection. This page will help you find the right app for all your devices - but don't worry, we'll direct you there as soon as you sign up.

If I cancel will you refund my current monthly payment?

We don't issue refunds for payments that have already been taken. If you want to cancel, make sure to do it before your next payment is due.

I've lost my log in details. What do I do?

Please go to the Komodo App's sign in page and click on "Help I forgot my password". Then enter the registered email and we'll send you all the relevant logins for the account.

Is the subscription payment secure?

Absolutely. Komodo doesn't read or store your full card details. We leave the payment process to Stripe.com, an industry leader in secure online subscription payment. Stripe is PCI Level 1 compliant - the highest level of online card payment security you can get.

How do I cancel?

We make it easy to cancel. When you sign up we'll send you an email with a link to your cancel page. You can also cancel from within the web app - in the settings section. You may also email us from your registered email address requesting to cancel - we will reply confirming cancellation when it has been processed. For annual subscriptions we'll also email you a reminder 2 weeks before your renewal date with a link to cancel.

I'm concerned that Komodo will conflict with school teaching?

Komodo is designed to complement school mathematics lessons. Its focus is on mastering the essential mental mathematics skills through practice.

Does Komodo follow a particular curriculum?

Komodo's main focus is improving mental arithmetic through practice. This is the core element of the mathematics curriculum in most countries. For more on how Komodo relates to your curriculum please visit the curriculum guide

Is Komodo a game?

No. Games tend to focus on keeping the player at the screen for as long as possible. Komodo is about getting the maximum benefit in the shortest possible time - but that doesn't mean it's not fun to use!

Is Komodo competitive?

No. Competition may appeal to certain learners but we don't see it as necessary. We believe learners are best motivated when working towards personal goals - this builds confidence and self esteem.

Does Komodo suit bright or struggling learners?

Yes. When you set up your new account each learner does a short diagnostic test and you are invited to tell us more about their needs. A qualified mathematics teacher then uses this to assign appropriate work for the learner. Komodo is built to adapt to the learner's progress so they are fast-forwarded through topics they're good at. If you'd prefer to take charge, we provide an easy way to amend and assign the learner's work yourself.

Is my child safe using Komodo?

Yes. Komodo allows messaging between your registered account (family) members only. Our staff will contact the adult who signed up - should they need to get in touch. As an extra precaution our staff have been cleared by the UK authorities as safe to work with children.

Love to subscribe but can't afford it?

If you're unemployed, a single-parent or just can't afford it. Speak to us and we'll see if we can help.

Does Komodo need a persistent internet connection?

Yes, the Komodo web app, iPad app and android app always need to be connected to the internet.

How do I log into Komodo?

At the top right hand side of the page you'll see a "Log In" button. Just click that.

Can I get Komodo in the App Store?

You can download the Komodo iPad app via the app store here but you must sign up for your account on this site to use it. The same es for the Android app.

Does Komodo work on the Kindle?

Who makes Komodo?

Does Komodo work on a iPhone?

Yes you can. We recommend that big screens are best for young learners. So if you have an iPhone 6 or 7, or better still an iPad, it will be easier to for your child to use than the earlier generation iPhones 4 & 5.

Will my subscription price increase?

No. Whatever price you start with will stay the same as long as you're with us. That's unless you add extra learners or switch to annual.

Do we charge VAT?

UK VAT at 20% is already included in the price for UK / EU citizens.
