A positive learning experience that develops ability & confidence
Fluency in maths is a great foundation for doing well in primary maths and beyond. Maths fluency enables learners to handle higher order skills such as multi-step problem solving with ease - and it builds confidence.
The summer maths challenge is an opportunity to develop maths fluency at home. On this page you can redeem your school voucher code to start a maths practice programme appropriate for your child's past school year. It's entirely free, all you need is a tablet, laptop or smartphone and an internet connection.
Our strength is making learning maths at home effective, enjoyable and rewarding. We do this in a way that engages parents, motivates children and doesn't keep children at the screen for long periods. Since our launch in 2015 we have taught maths to over 10,000 children and we're proud to have won the BETT Award for best home learning resource.
‘This great site complements classroom learning with an interactive, user-friendly interface for both parents and children to use at home. Most importantly, it presents mathematical concepts clearly, in an engaging manner with many opportunities for practice’. The BETT Award Judges.
Komodo has many ways to keep learners motivated, but we've added two special new features for the summer maths challenge. Inside the app and online, learners and parents will be able to track their progress via the practice tracker. There will also be a cool printable certificate for all "triple scoopers" who complete the challenge.
A positive learning experience that develops ability & confidence
We've created a cool interactive challenge tracker chart so your children can see how they're getting on
Designed for short regular use. 10-15 minutes, 3 to 5 times per week.
It's not a game, but kids enjoy using it.
Your encouragement and involvement makes the all difference. We’ve made this easy.
Self-paced practice that complements classroom learning.
Across age, gender and culture. No clutter, no competition scoreboards.
Your child will be proud of their summer maths challenge certificate.
My kids aren't keen on numeracy as a rule, but Komodo is the exception. The combination of content, graphics and incentive means they've often fought over who gets to go on it first, and that hasn't worn off even after a number of months. I've seen their ability and confidence grow as a result of using it and would highly recommend it
My 6 year old daughter has found Komodo fun and easy to use. I have noticed she is much more confident with numbers, and this was quickly reflected in her school work. She has recently completed her Year 2 SATs and she was in a small minority that sat the upper level paper. Her teacher remarked that she had "exceeded his expectations". We are delighted by the progress made. Thank you Komodo Team!
My 7 year old daughter Eve, and my 5 year old son Connell both use Komodo, and it has improved their confidence with mathematics noticeably. There is healthy competition between them to earn more Komodo stars, so they see Komodo as a game, not as "homework". Because of this, it is never any trouble to get them to use Komodo.
My daughter's going great guns with Komodo at the moment. She has swapped from a similar paper based Maths programme in which we were struggling to keep her motivated but Komodo is much more fun - she loves it!
In his own words my son John (9) has found Komodo Math ‘fun, and really good!’. Since starting to use Komodo 4 months ago there has been a distinct improvement in John’s ability to master the basics. All he needed was a bit of regular practice and Komodo did the job.
A few short weeks ago our clever, funny six year old son came home upset. Some children had been calling him 'dumb' at maths. We enrolled him in Komodo to help his confidence and he loves it! He no longer thinks he is 'dumb' at maths and came home from school as 'star of the week' for huge effort and improvement in maths'! Thank you....you have made a difference to the happiness of a little boy!
Thank you for your service; it has been very beneficial for my daughter who became ill at the end of year 5. Her school attendance in year 6 was about 30% yet she still managed to achieve level 5 in her SATS – we found komodo maths really useful in helping her to keep up with her studies.
Thanks for setting me up on the Komodo App. It's been nothing but a great experience for my daughter and the whole family. It is building so much confidence in her abilities, we all look forward to the next stages each evening. Congratulations on a great educational tool! You deserve an A* for it.
Marcus is benefitting greatly from "little and often" visits to Komodo and the challenge of getting an A* grade continues to be sufficient motivation in itself for him. I am therefore delighted all round!
Eila is the youngest in her class and we were a bit worried that this might set her at a disadvantage, but she's right up there now on her number work, and that's in no small part to the learning she's gained from Komodo.
We have really enjoyed Komodo over the summer holidays. It is a great app and Laura has made huge improvements in her maths, and also had lots of fun doing it.
My son is doing extremely well and has increased confidence with his mental maths skills, thanks to the repeated practice within Komodo!
Yes, it's absolutely free.
You can cancel your summer learning challenge in the account section of our website.
Officially it begins on 1st July and ends on 7th September but you can start as soon as you get your code from the school.
When you sign up we ask you for the child's school year. This is used to assign relevant practice based on the UK National Curriculum.
Please sign up for two children then drop us a message or email with the names and past school year for the others.
If your child struggles with maths or has a learning difficulty we will do our best to amend their maths practice programme to suit their needs. Please send us a message or email and we'll take it from there.
Please don't share the voucher code as it is unique to your school and only available through a participating school.
The Komodo app works on most devices - iPads, iPhones, android tablets and smartphones, and Kindle Fire tablets as well as windows and mac computers. It also requires an internet connection.
You can track your child's progress in the Komodo app and through your special summer learning tracking chart - we'll email you the link to this later.
Yes. We'll give you the option to continue with a paid subscription after the challenge is over on 7th September.
Komodo has many ways to motivate learners including a parent-led reward system and cool family messaging system. However, good old-fashioned encouragement always works too!
Usually when parents sign up for a paid subscription to Komodo one of our maths teachers assigns a personalised learning plan for their child based on a diagnostic test and other information parents provide.
We are unable to provide this level of teacher-personalisation in the summer maths challenge as it is free to participating schools and families. Instead maths practice is based on the past school year of each learner.
If you have a question that we haven't covered please don't hesitate to get in touch though our contact page. Please mention the "summer maths challenge" so we can better advise you.
