Curriculum Guide

Classroom math teaching usually works well - children experience a varied and balanced introduction to math, and receive a healthy mix of whole class learning, practical math work and group activities.

However, when it comes to addressing the individual needs of each learner, it can be improved.

A teacher's attention will usually be spread over 20+ or more classmates, so Komodo is designed to supplement and complement classroom learning in key curriculum areas where extra help is most beneficial.

The Importance of Mastering Numeracy

Numeracy, or arithmetic as it used to be known, is Komodo's main focus because research has shown that mastering numeracy is the essential foundation for success in maths.

You can think of learning math as ladder, with numeracy skills making the bottom rungs. If the bottom rungs aren't in place it's hard to get any higher - and there's a danger of toppling off

Unfortunately this happens when poor numeracy skills become a barrier to understanding new topics, and children lose confidence in their ability.
