Competition to Win a Chess Set
To celebrate the start of a new year of learning, we're running a competition for Komodo subscribers!
We think chess is an amazing way to develop young brains, so we've decided to offer learners an opportunity to win their own chess set.
Chess can increase focus, strategic thinking and memory capacity, all of which are super skills for kids to develop - and which come in especially useful when it comes to success in mathematics.
Read about young chess master Tani Adewumi in our blog.
Chess might have a bit of a reputation as being a game for child geniuses, but it's actually much more accessible than you might think. And what better way to get started than to become the proud owner of a brand new chess set?
To be in with a chance of winning a chess set, Komodo learners have to do two things:
1. Complete 10 Komodo lessons before the end of January 2025
2. Design your own chess piece - draw, paint, sculpt, digitize or otherwise create in any way you like a piece that could be used in the game of chess.
Your chess piece can be a new take on a standard piece, like a king or a pawn, or you can let your imagination run riot and create something completely new. Bonus points if you tell us a bit about your piece and what it can do!
Send a photo or scan of your design to hi@komodomath.com using the email you're registered with, and we'll pick the best!
To spark your creativity, here are a few of the winners from our last competition:
Competition rules
Learners must complete 10 lessons before the end of January to be able to enter. Lessons already completed in January count towards this total.
20 chess sets will be won.
The winners' first names may be published alongside their entries. Winners can opt to be anonymous - just let us know in your entry email.
If we can't mail a chess set to your address for whatever reason, we will give you a the equivalent value of the prize in cash or account credit.
Each family can only win one chess set.
The judges' decision is final.
Good luck!
