Competition to Win a Chess Set - winners announced!
To celebrate the start of a new year of learning, we've run a competition for Komodo subscribers!
We think chess is an amazing way to develop young brains, so we decided to offer learners an opportunity to win their own chess set.
Chess can increase focus, strategic thinking and memory capacity, all of which are super skills for kids to develop - and which come in especially useful when it comes to success in mathematics.

Chess might have a bit of a reputation as being a game for child geniuses, but it's actually much more accessible than you might think. And what better way to get started than to become the proud owner of a brand new chess set?
To be in with a chance of winning, Komodo learners had to do two things:
1. Complete 10 Komodo lessons before the end of January 2025
2. Design their own chess piece - draw, paint, sculpt, digitize or otherwise create a piece that could be used in the game of chess.
We had lots of great submissions, and the judges were very impressed by the creativity on display. From kind and caring kings with seats to help other pieces off the board when they've been taken, to some incredible three-dimensional sculpted designs, our young Komodo subscribers have blown us all away. Here just a few of the new chess pieces that were designed:
